Uncomfortable Truth
photo by Robin Fowler
We don’t like change. We never have.
The unknown augurs trouble.
Familiar paths are like a salve;
on them we’re comfortable.
Most folks who see a zig or zag
to new and bold ideas
will set their fearful tongues a-wag
and say things born of fear.
Each generation deprecates
the next to come along;
their vision, so the staid debate,
can’t tell what’s right from wrong.
Geniuses make jobs we need
to keep our children fed
and maintain our security,
so we sleep safe abed.
Some call them crazed, as in insane,
not crazy like a fox...
and all because they use their brains.
to think outside the box.
